Why do I keep comparing The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo to The Social Network?
Oh yeah, because the score sounds the exact same!

This is dumb.
You could also say that every score John Williams has done sounds exactly the same.
You could also say that every score Danny Elfman has done sounds exactly the same.
All great composers have immediately identifiable sounds and yes, often use a lot of the same techniques/instrumentation. But what makes them special is how they apply that to the visual.
Trent and Atticus happen to be quite fucking exceptional at that.
And in the end, they’re not creating an album to listen to (though that does happen to be a convenient additive). They are creating to accompany a film, they are creating to accompany the emotion and atmosphere of what’s happening on the screen, the characters emotions, the scenery, everything. They are taking everything visual and melting it down and brewing it into sound.
Again, Trent and Atticus happen to be quite fucking exceptional at that.
The fact that Atticus and Trent are only on their SECOND movie yet have achieved the level of recognition that they have is incredible. Their achievements are admirable, their scores are incredible. If you can’t recognise that then that’s your own fault, not their’s.
